Guest No : 48 of 61 Post by : SCabral on 09 March 2006 18:43:39[ 85.240.230.21 ] Detail : Thanks! The manual wasn´t very clear about this procedure. I´m new to the ETX (but astronomy is an old friend) and all the information I can get is important. Only had a couple of observing sessions but managed to get good views of Saturn´s rings and the Great Orion Nebula. I got mine almost by accident, from Lidl (european food and groceries supermarket !!). Was there to get groceries and to check out a "computer-controlled" telescope that a friend had told me about, although I thought it was going to be a toy of some sort. Looked around and, to my amazement, it was an ETX-70AT. Pick one, get in line to pay, and go home, quick!

I have made a mains supply which has made a difference. I have found that proper levelling with a spirit level and facing true North very important. For some reason the tripod leg adjustment catches have dicided to disintegrate, which is annoying because it has had no abuse at all, just being used in a suburban back garden. Great site, probably stopped me spending (wasting?) money on an ETX90. thanks.

Guest No : 15 of 61 Post by : Casey on Wed Feb 4 20:59:04[ 65.34.82.190 ] Detail : I recently purchased an ETX-70AT after doing reserch on the web. It seems to fit both my new found interest as well as my wallet. Being that I classify myself as a "before beginner" I found the ETX-70AT filled my needs, able to look at objects in the sky easily without a lot of prior knowledge of astronomy or using a telescope. Of course since my initial purchase of the scope, I have added accessories-eye pieces, finder, filters, plus other odds and ends. After I bought my scope I came across your web site and have found it to be very informative. With my new hobby, I´m sure I´ll be back here often. Keep up the good work!
